Distant Worlds: Music From Final Fantasy.

It was a totally fantastic performance. The beautiful Esplanade concert hall provided just the correct ambience and atmosphere to showcase the wonderful video game music of the Final Fantasy series, composed by Nobuo Uematsu.
I was shocked when I saw Uematsu, sitted among the audience to watch the asian premiere of Distant Worlds. What a humble person, to be together with the audience that he had won over with his compositions of musically pleasing works.
It started off with the Final Fantasy VIII opening song, which was breathtaking. I was especially awed by the orchestra.
There was a mix of songs from different series of the Final Fantasty franchise. You have the emotional type of songs in Aerith's theme, fun and catchy songs of the Chocobo's Theme with a twist of jazz in it and the type of music that makes you feel brave when you plunge into battle, Don't Be Afraid.
Medley, really brought back the nostalgic feeling of playing FFI and FFII. Now, I am so tempted to play the games again!
Love Grows, instrumental version of Eyes On Me was breathtaking. Opera: Maria and Draco was interesting. All in all, the concert was perfect for me.

Then they were happy to perform an encore, not once but twice! And the second encore, One Winged Angel, Uematsu actually joined the choir to sing! What an interesting and cute guy. I bet the choir was suprised too, especially the lucky one standing beside Uematsu.
Throughout the show, the conductor, Arnie Roth was very humourous. Uematsu and Roth were hilarious, both in their own ways.

There was a post performance dialogue and autograph session, too bad I didn't go. I should have gone, as once I hit home, the computer was occupied for the whole time.

Nevertheless, not to dampen the spirit after watching and appreciating a simply wonderful concert, I am pretty happy and optimistic. Imagine the battle themes of Final Fantasy accompanying you when you are going through a rough spot, the emotional pieces that makes you feel better when you are sad and the happy and catchy tunes that never fails to brighten your day.

Whether video game music is 'computer generated music' or not, you won't understand the beauty of it without really listening to it. And Distant Worlds really made the difference between computer generated music or not.

The next Distant Worlds or FF concert in Singapore, I'll be turning up regardless its O levels or A levels.

And remember to buy the tickets fast! Distant Worlds sold out waaaay months before its performance. Just shows how much people appreciate the works of Nobuo Uematsu.

P.S. This post was made on 23rd May, but due to stupid people using computer for stupid activities like fuckb, I had to delay this post.
